Indian Motorcycle Racing

Our legend was built on racing and innovation. Today, we push the limits of possibility on - and off - the track, with 7 back-to-back AFT championships on the FTR750, three King of the Baggers titles on the Indian Challenger, and two SuperHooligan championship titles on the FTR. Racing is in our DNA and we are only just getting started.

Indian Motorcycle + Vance & Hines

Two american icons unite to rule the track

Indian Motorcycle and Vance & Hines have joined forces in a multi-year partnership to dominate MotoAmerica’s King of the Baggers series. Starting in 2026, Vance & Hines will lead the Indian Motorcycle factory racing program with a new Wrecking Crew and a race-ready, Vance & Hines–modified Indian Challenger powered by the PowerPlus 112 engine. Two American powerhouses, united to push performance and innovation to the next level.

Return of the wrecking crew

Indian Motorcycle is embarking on a new bagger-racing chapter and continuing the historic legacy of the Wrecking Crew with the Vance & Hines factory racing team in the 2026 MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series. With an all-new Indian Motorcycle Wrecking Crew, including 2024 King of the Baggers Champion Troy Herfoss, 2023 King of the Baggers Champion Hayden Gillim, and rising star Rocco Landers, the singular goal for Indian Motorcycle is dominating the 2026 King of the Baggers series. At the heart of the factory race team is an all-new, Vance & Hines-modified Indian Challenger, powered by the Indian Motorcycle PowerPlus engine. Armed with the industry’s most decorated performance bagger and an unmatched rider lineup, the team is poised to write the next chapter in American racing history.

The Original Wrecking Crew

The Indian Motorcycle Wrecking Crew is legendary in American motorcycle racing, known for its dominance in different eras. The original crew, with Ernie Beckman, Bill Tuman, and Bobby Hill, excelled in the 1950s, securing 14 AMA National wins, including three consecutive Springfield Mile victories. Revived in 2017 by Jared Mees, the modern crew continued this legacy, winning multiple championships. Mees, a seven-time Flat Track Grand National Champion, led the team to numerous victories, including an impressive in-season Grand Slam in 2017. The Wrecking Crew has embodied the racing spirit of Indian Motorcycle since its founding in 1901.

A history of racing

Indian Motorcycle's racing legacy began in 1903 when co-founder Oscar Hedstrom set a world speed record and won an endurance race from New York City, New York to Springfield, Massachusetts. This early success laid the foundation for Indian Motorcycle's dominance in the racing world. The original Wrecking Crew of the 1940s and 1950s cemented our dominance by securing multiple victories at the Springfield Mile and other prestigious events. These early achievements established Indian Motorcycle as a formidable force in racing, a reputation that continues to inspire the racing community today as we continue to push the boundaries of performance and innovation.
